love stories

love stories in general are sappy things. sadly mainstream lovey-dovey literature has debased this purest of emotions into a continual stream of just-add-water romances, happy coincidences, and lots of lurid scenes.

but i must say that the one of the best tales of love i have ever read comes from none other than the great Tolkien –

in a few pages within a chapter he captures the essence of such.

the tale of Faramir and Eowyn and how they met – ah!

i have no words to describe the immensity and complexity and depth of the entire scene. i leave you to read it yourself. it is within the 6th book, the chapter titled ‘The Steward and The King’.
